#144. Zoolander

Zoolander PosterBrilliant. There is not much I need to say since I refuse to believe anyone doesn't love this film. If you think Zoolander is anything other than perfect leave me a message and defend your insanity.

The Marriage of Maria Braun PosterFassbinder's classic, The Marriage of Maria Braun succeeds at being that rare film that excels at both playing to a discerning critical audience as well as the less analytical mainstream. More focused than many of the films directed by German directors of the time, Fassbinder seduces his audience while never undermining their intelligence. A perfect blend of wittiness and undisguised implication, Maria Braun is a delight.
I'm Still Here PosterBlah blah blah... talk about not following through! No matter what I'm Still Here would have been a terrible let down, but why did director Casey Affleck have to let the cat out of the bag the day the film released? Just the last of many horrible decisions by Affleck and company.
A Nightmare on Elm Street 2010 posterWhat could have been a spectacular re-imagining unsurprisingly was instead an almost scene-for-scene remake of the original. I tried so hard to keep my expectations at bay, but with Jackie Earle Haley donning the striped sweater I just couldn't help myself! What a disappointment...
At least some of the poster art was cool!

The King's Speech posterIt is a good film, but out of the 10 nominations The Social Network should have won. Of course I think Dogtooth should have beat all of them.

Con Air poster artAfter all of the bunnies have been put back in the box, and all of the roses have been flayed off Danny Trejo's arm, we are still left with an unbelievably amusing action film. Stupid as all Hell, Con-Air is one of the best. Cyrus the Virus, Steve Buscemi going full on Hannibal, and Nic Cage's accent. They just don't make 'em like they used to.

Wayne's World posterSadly I have to admit this film does not hold up . . . NOT!!! Feeling almost timeless, this comedy classic was as enjoyable to watch as it was when my dad took me to see it in the theater in 1992. SCHWING!
And it must be said that it did inspire this. . .
